One more evening party was held in Saint-Petersburg by The London Friends Of The Hermitage fund. The event took place within the precincts of The State Hermitage Museum and it was remarkable for its grand scale and solemnity. In the finale of the evening Mikhail Piotrovsky, the Director of the biggest Russian museum, and Maxim Arzinovich expressed the agreement to hold a big exhibition of the modern gemstone carving art in the nearest future. The central place of the exposition will take the collection of Maxim Arzinovich, the most significant gemstone art works collection of Saint-Petersburg school masters nowadays.

The several objects by Petersburg gem carvers were shown on the Sotheby’s Charity Auction which was held on March, 27 in London within the framework of Gala Dinner arranged by The London Friends Of The Hermitage fund. The works by Gennady Pylin, Anton Ananiev and Alexander Veselovsky found well their new owners thereby confirming the high art potential of Russian gemstone carving school. During the event Maxim Arzinovich’s collection was also demonstrated and was highly appreciated by Mark Poltimore, Sotheby's Senior Director and Chairman (Europe). The attracted audience was delighted with this collection as well.

The Petersburg Jeweller December exhibition, traditionally taking place in the building of Konnogvardeysky Manege (Lige Guards Manege) on St.Isaak Square, has gained a status of cult event for Saint-Petersburg gemstone carvers for a long time ago. Owing to this fact, it was there that Maxim Arzinovich decided to demonstrate his collection in full volume for the first time in Russia. Since the most of collection works on display played a big role in the development of Saint-Petersburg gem carving school in due time, the exposition was bound to succeed.

Idar-Obestein, December 5-7, 2009
In December, Maxim Arzinovich and the group of Saint-Petersburg gemstone carvers visited the cradle of European gemstone art, a small German city Idar-Oberstein. Getting familiar with the best masters and visiting a few ateliers, Maxim enriched his collection with several objects by Gerd Dreher, it may well be, the most famous gemstone carver in the world nowadays. The works of master’s son, Patrick Dreher, have also been acquired for the collection. Patrick cast in his lot with the gemstone carving art following in father’s footsteps.
